Award-winning composer Daniel Alberto Velasco has had his music heard around the world in nearly 200 countries. Throughout his extensive career, he has composed the music for many films, some with prominent filmmakers including Hollywood-based director Alfonso Quijada and acclaimed director Sergio Cabrera. He scored the music for the popular Netflix series Always a Witch (Siempre Bruja). Other films he’s composed the music for include Diego Guzmán's The Other Shape (La Otra Forma), which earned Best Animated Feature honors at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain and was also an Official Selection at the Annecy International Animation Film Festivalin France.

Velasco is a two-time Macondo Award winner both for Best Original Score. The Macondo is awarded by the Colombian Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - the equivalent to the Academy Awards. He attended the highly-competitive ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in Los Angeles, as well as the Film Music Composition Lab in Mexico City. His music been recorded and performed by world-class ensembles, including the Hollywood Studio Symphonythe Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg, and the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra.

Velasco holds a Master of Music in Film Scoring from the Filmuniversität Konrad Wolf in Germany. At present, he is a distinguished professor at Colombia’s prestigious Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá.
